Take a Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour and experience exactly this in the beautiful surroundings of the Tsitsikamma Forest. This is the original canopy tour, the first in Africa and is the ultimate day out for any visitor to the Garden Route and Tsitsikamma regions. Also on offer from the team at Stormsriver Adventures is the Woodcutters Journey – an enchanting guided journey through the Stormsriver pass and a range of guided hikes.
Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour
The Tsitsikamma Forest is a large protected conservation area located along South Africa’s Garden Route. The Forest supports a diverse ecosystem, abundant with plant and animal life and with Tsitsikamma Canopy Tours you can experience this striking diversity from a unique vantage point and you will certainly get the adrenaline pumping gliding through the tree tops!
Your Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour Experience will begin with a full safety briefing and then a “kitting up” session, where you will be fitted with a full body harness, pulleys and other climbing equipment. Following this you will be driven into the lush, tall forest and it is time for the monkey business to begin! Your expert and knowledgeable guide from Stormsriver Adventures will lead you onto the launch platform and from here you will slide along steel cables from tree to tree taking in the magnificent views of the enchanting Outeniqua Yellowwoods. Your guide will offer interesting facts about the majestic tress and abundant bird and animal life and will enthusiastically explain the ecology of the forest.
The Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour involves gliding through the tree tops between ten platforms, suspended 30m above the forest’s floor and zipping down ten “fufi” slides or zip wires– the longest of which is 80m long!
The experience lasts about three hours and is great fun for all the family, especially for those little monkeys! You can even capture the magic of the day with an action packed DVD of your Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour adventure for an extra charge.
Bookings are essential and subject to availability. The Canopy Tours are conducted in all weather conditions, but safety is paramount and so tours may be cancelled if it is deemed necessary in the interests of safety. The age range for the Canopy Tours is from age 7 to 70 and there is a maximum weight limit of 120kg. Unfortunately pregnant women may not take part in the Canopy Tours. Tsitsikamma Woodcutters Journey and Guided Hikes
Join Stormsriver Adventures on a journey down the original Stormsriver pass and explore the indigenous forest and history of the area from the comfort of a vehicle that has been specially designed for the tour. Pass through areas of unmatched beauty and stop in spots that were once where old settler wagons set up camp. Explore the local flora and fauna as well as the forest wildlife and enjoy a bite to eat or morning or afternoon tea on this excellent forest trip. For anyone with an interest in nature and wishing to explore the natural beauty of this area this 2-3 hour trip is a must.
Stormsriver Adventures also offers a range of guided hikes through the stunning Tsitsikamma area and hiking is a great way to explore this incredible region.
