Knysna Golf Club

The Knysna Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 73 golf course set in the beautiful hills of Knysna, one of the gems of South Africa's Garden Route. Knysna Golf Club was originally established in 1909. It started life as a 9-hole course and was made into an 18-hole course in 1960. In 1994 an extensive upgrade of the golf course took place and 19 new Crenshaw bent grass greens were built. The surrounding hills and mountains offer extremely scenic backdrops for your golf game and there is a wide variety of trees, flowers and bird-life to be seen.

At the Knysna Golf Course tidal pools and channels have been added over the years and great attention has been paid to the bunkering throughout. A good example of this is the eighteenth hole, which now has an outstanding bent grass surface covering a large undulating area. Together with a beautiful yet potentially hazardous water feature as a backdrop, shapely and well manicured bunkers protecting the green add to what is now considered a substantial finishing challenge. Even with this finishing challenge, the Knysna Golf Course is still an enjoyable and gentle stroll through beautiful tree-lined fairways and you will not experience the fatigue you might on some other golf courses in the region.

The newly rebuilt clubhouse has a lovely halfway house with a welcoming bar and a substantial deck to enjoy drinks and spectacular views. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing, so enjoy!

Course Facilities

Practice Facilities: Golfers can practice on a large putting and chipping green as well as a short game practice range (100m). A full-length driving range is situated nearby and enquiries can be made through the club.

Equipment Hire: Golf clubs, golf carts and pull trolleys can all be hired at Knysna Golf Club, although bookings are essential, especially in high season. Dedicated and experienced caddies are available to assist the visitor and provide expert advice as you navigate what can be a challenging golfing experience.

Food and Drink: The recently renovated clubhouse includes a luxurious bar and lounge with 4 widescreen satellite TVs. A large deck with braai (barbeque) facilities looks over the 9th green and provides a stunning view of this wonderful golf course’s signature hole. At the Halfway House you can enjoy light meals, snacks and drinks. The Knysna Golf Club is able to cater for large groups and is happy to host business and social functions.

Dress Code

Men should wear long or short socks with golf shorts. No rugby or bermuda shorts, jeans or collarless shirts are allowed to be worn on the golf course. Collared shirts and shoes with socks must be worn in the clubhouse.
