Description

Day 1: We embark on a transformative photographic journey along the iconic Route 62, a ribbon of road that winds its way through the stunning landscapes and cultural riches of South Africa's Western Cape. Setting out from the vibrant metropolis of Cape Town, your adventure begins travelling through the beautiful Breede River Valley - known for its world renowned wines. You'll soon find yourself immersed in the rolling vineyards and fertile valleys of the Cape Winelands. Rows of grapevines stretch across the landscape allowing the opportunity to capture some exceptional landscape photos. Continuing along Route 62, you'll pass through charming towns like Robertson and Montagu, each offering its own unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. Everywhere you look, there's a photo waiting to be taken, a moment waiting to be immortalized through your lens. As the road winds its way through the rugged terrain of the Langeberg Mountains, prepare to be awed by the raw beauty that surrounds you. Towering peaks, plunging valleys and beautiful flowers create a dramatic backdrop for your photographs, each frame capturing the untamed spirit of the landscape. Further along Route 62, the scenery gradually transitions into the semi-arid expanse of the Klein Karoo, where we will visit Ronnies Sex Shop - a drinking hole - and tell you the story of where the name came from. Here, amidst the silence of nature, you'll encounter the charming towns of Barrydale - our first sleep over, visiting the notorious Diesel & Creme - offering the best milkshakes in the world. Day 2-5: The next morning we are off to Oudtshoorn, renowned for its ostrich farms and the mesmerizing Cango Caves. Over the next 3 days we will explore the Cango Caves with its intricate formations accompanied by our own private guide - allowing enough time for some special photo techniques such as pano's, verto's and playing with light - for 3 nights we will glamp in some beautiful safari tents with the opportunity for some night photography. The same farm offer safari tours to their ostrich farm - the biggest non-flying bird - and we will experience the meerkat colony in their natural habitat. We will also visit Buffelsdrift to feed the elephants. And do not forget the beautiful Meiringspoort which will offer the opportunity to take photos of the waterfalls with a slow shutter speed. We will introduce you to our traditional braai (barbeque) and do wine tasting where the opportunity exists. Throughout your journey I will be your guide assisting you to uncover the best photographic opportunities, but also provide insights into the rich history, culture, and biodiversity of the region. Whether you're a seasoned photographer or a novice enthusiast, the Route 62 photography tour promises an enriching and inspiring experience that will leave you with memories to cherish and treasure for ever. Day 5: After this unique experience we return to Cape Town.
