Port Elizabeth Airport

Port Elizabeth’s airport is often used as a gateway to South Africa's Garden Route. It is fairly small but is serviced by a large number of airlines, mainly offering domestic flights. You can fly to Port Elizabeth from most other airports in South Africa, including Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg and South African Airways and Kulula offer numerous services to Port Elizabeth.

The airport is located within the city of Port Elizabeth itself and is only 5km from the Business District and 3km from the beautiful Algoa Bay. The airport can be reached from the city centre via Route M11 and is well signposted.

Parking (both short and long stay) is available directly in front of the terminal building.

Car Hire
There are a number of car hire companies located on-site at the airport including Alisa, Avis Budget, Europcar and Tempest. We would recommend booking your car hire in advance to get the best deals available but hiring a car for yoru Garden Route trip is very easy at PE airport.

Public Transport
Shuttle bus services are only available on request and must be booked in advance at the Arrivals Hall. These operate according to the schedule of flights arriving.

Metered taxis are available outside the departures hall, but do tend to be expensive.

There is an ATM at Port Elizabeth Airport located between Departures and Arrivals as well as a post box and a Bureau de Change. Pay phones that accept both cash and credit card are also available. There are a few shops, mainly souvenirs and sweets, in the Departures Hall and there is one restaurant which serves a variety of dishes.
