Getting Around the Garden Route
Public transport in South Africa is extremely limited and so by far the best way to get around South Africa’s Garden Route and Eastern Cape is to hire a car and travel at your own pace around the many sights and destinations. See our car hire section for more information.
There is not really a developed tourist bus transport system in South Africa; however backpackers do have the option of the BazBus, a hop-on hop-off service that runs between a large number of youth hostels around the country. The BazBus offers a great way for those travelling on a limited budget to explore the Garden Route and Eastern Cape whilst meeting other like-minded Backpackers.
