Garden Route and Cape Agulhas 4-Day Guided Tour from Cape Town
This 4-day tour from Cape Town combines Route 62 wine tasting, wildlife safaris, forest hikes, and visits to Knysna, Cape Agulhas, and Hermanus for whale watching.
Itinerary
Day 1: Travel approximately 400 km from Cape Town along Route 62, passing vineyards and orchards. Stop at Van Loveren Wines for a tasting paired with cheese, chocolate, or local treats. Continue to Oudtshoorn to explore the Cango Caves on a Heritage Tour. Overnight at Buffelsdrift Game Lodge in a luxury glamping tent overlooking a waterhole.
Day 2: After breakfast, optional early-morning Meerkat Safari (additional cost). Travel to Knysna to explore the Waterfront and visit the Knysna Heads Viewpoint. Enjoy lunch featuring fresh seafood and local specialties. In the afternoon, take a scenic walk through Wilderness National Park to spot birdlife. Overnight at Mes Amis Guesthouse overlooking Wilderness Beach and the Indian Ocean.
Day 3: Head to Botlierskop Game Reserve for a 4x4 safari with a ranger, featuring views of the Outeniqua Mountains and Indian Ocean and wildlife including four of the Big Five. Lunch at Botlierskop Lodge restaurant. Continue to Cape Agulhas, the southernmost point of Africa, for photos and optional exploration. Overnight at Ocean House nearby.
Day 4: Visit Hermanus for land-based whale watching from cliff-top paths or explore galleries and shops. From July to November, optional whale cruises are available (additional cost). Lunch at waterfront cafés before returning to Cape Town along Clarence Drive by early evening, a scenic route along the coastline and mountains.
