From Cape Town: 3-Day Garden Route Highlights and 4x4 Safari
112 ReviewsSee Africa's famous wildlife and incredible Garden Route scenery on this 3-day tour; including a 4x4 game drive and bush walking safari and canoeing in the wilderness.
One reason many travellers venture to South Africa’s Garden Route and Eastern Cape region is to experience the thrill of getting into the water with one of nature’s most fearsome creatures: The Great White Shark. With its rows of razor sharp teeth and imposing size the Great White Shark is one of the largest predators to swim our oceans and the Garden Route’s town of Mossel Bay is the perfect place from which to take a trip to see these magnificent and awe-inspiring creatures and to get that adrenaline pumping.
Diving with Great White Sharks at Mossel Bay means that you will be able to experience these magnificent creatures in an un-crowded environment as Shark Africa is the only operator in this area. The only competition for the sharks’ attention are the seals. Hop aboard the well-appointed boat, which is custom built for shark cage diving and embark on an unforgettable and educational adventure to cage dive with Great White Sharks.
A typical trip to see the Great White Sharks starts at the jetty with some breakfast and a chat with the friendly and knowledgeable staff, who will take you on your shark cage diving adventure.
The sharks are only a short trip away as Mossel Bay has the most accessible Great White Sharks in the world. The water is baited and chummed to attract the sharks and only natural marine products are used. It can take a while for the first sharks to appear and while the success rate of seeing Great Whites is high, customers need to understand that nothing is guaranteed.
Once the sharks are circling, the cage will go into the water and the diving will begin. Getting into the cage with the sharks around, is truly the most breath-taking experience you will ever live to remember. Viewing from the deck is just as exciting for the non-divers and as Great White Sharks swim very close to the surface there will be plenty of opportunities to take some action shots.
A trip tends to last around four hours and includes a light lunch, snacks and drinks. Upon return you can enjoy afternoon tea whilst the certificates of the day get handed out.
The average cost of this Great White Shark adventure is 1250 Rand and includes all equipment, breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea and a certificate to prove you were brave enough to enter the ocean with a Great White Shark!
