Description

Day 1: Botlierskop - Oudtshoorn
Depart from the meeting point near DHL Cape Town Stadium at 6:45am or arrange hotel pickup within 5km of Cape Town or Stellenbosch if booked early. Travel approximately 450 km (6 hours) along the Garden Route to the 3,500-hectare malaria-free Botlierskop private game reserve. The reserve hosts abundant wildlife, including four of the Big Five, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest.

Embark on a two-hour open-top 4x4 game drive to spot lions, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos. Leopards are nocturnal and rarely seen on these drives. Your experienced game ranger will also introduce you to the region’s smaller wildlife, insects, and plants within the Renosterveld coastal area.

After the safari, check in to your accommodation. Choose from Buffelsdrift Lodge’s luxury canvas tents featuring modern comforts such as a claw-foot bath and outdoor shower overlooking the bush or waterhole. Alternatively, select the Farmstay option on a working ostrich farm nearby or a centrally located guesthouse in Oudtshoorn town.

Day 2: Buffelsdrift - Route 62
After breakfast, enjoy a two-hour 4x4 bush drive through the Klein Karoo with your ranger, who will help spot wildlife such as buffalo, giraffes, kudu, porcupines, and meerkats, and teach you about local flora and fauna.

An optional elephant observation experience is available at extra cost (approximately R700). Join guides to see three rescued elephants roaming freely in the Cango Valley, with opportunities to ask questions and take photos.

Conclude your tour with a scenic drive along Route 62, the world’s longest wine route. Travel back through mountain passes and Karoo plains to return to Cape Town or Stellenbosch by late evening (6pm–9pm), depending on traffic and stops.
