Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Cape Town to Oudtshoorn

  • Depart Cape Town at 8am via the R62 Wine Route, passing Worcester, Robertson, and Montagu
  • Afternoon tour of Oudtshoorn, followed by a visit to the Cango Caves, Africa’s largest show cave system and South Africa’s oldest tourist attraction
  • Overnight stay at Karoo Retreat or similar in Oudtshoorn

Day 2: Oudtshoorn to Knysna

  • Morning 3-hour 4x4 game drive at Botlierskop Game Reserve, home to elephants, lions, rhino, kudus, buffaloes, impalas, zebras, and giraffes
  • Brief tour of Wilderness, then transfer to Knysna
  • Overnight at Russel Hotel or similar in Knysna

Day 3: Knysna to Plettenberg Bay

  • Hiking at Robberg Nature Reserve (a World Heritage Site with 120 million-year-old rock formations)
